• A weekend treat: San Francisco.

This past weekend I was lucky enough to spend the weekend in the gorgeous city of San Francisco. I had been there before about 10 years ago, however I barely remember a thing, so this weekend was a nice refresher.

For some reason I had remembered San Francisco as the block around Fisherman's Wharf. I was so so so wrong. San Francisco has so much charm. I fell in love with the different neighborhoods, all the buildings with some much character (and of course those old, rickety fire escape ladders, ha!).

I loved the vibe that the city had. It was more laid back than other big cities I have visited.

Here was my top 5 highlights from San Francisco

1. Walk through Presidio Park. Luckily our hotel was one block from the entrance of the park. We walked a through the park all the way to one of the look out points for the Golden Gate Bridge. We passed through Lucas Films, gorgeous buildings, a corral with horses and an overlook over Crissy Field. Also it was 70 and clear, not too shabby.

2. Take a picture with the Golden Gate Bridge.  This iconic landmark of the city is essential for any proof that you actually went to San Francisco.

 3. Visit the Tiled Steps at 16th and Moraga. Keep in mind there are 2 sets of stairs. The first ones pictured have a garden theme, and the second set had a theme that went from sea, land then the sky. There were both beautiful. The project, sponsored by the San Francisco Parks trust has put a lot of effort into these stairs and the plants and flowers that surround it.

 4. At the top of the second set of steps there is Grand View Park. This hillside gives you a 360 degree view of the city. I loved visiting this park. When I was sitting above the city, the hustle and bustle died away and everything seemed to stand still. All the buildings looked like they were painted onto a canvas, it was nice to see everything from a new perspective. Plus I liked going to spots that were not as touristy.

5. Eat, eat and eat. I had the best Chinese (House of Nan King), and Thai (Thai Idea) food of MY LIFE while in SF. It is definitely a foodie town and I was thoroughly impressed with all the options. In a city that is so diverse it is no surprise that the food was so plentiful.
